Before anyone gets offended… we love AI.
In fact, we use it every single day.
- It helps us research faster.
- Brainstorm better.
- Automate repetitive work.
And yes, sometimes it even writes a few LinkedIn drafts. Haha?
So this isn’t an article about why AI is bad.
AI without strategy is just faster mediocrity.
Somewhere along the way, businesses started being fearmongered into buying every latest AI subscription in order to be innovative. It isn’t.
Being progressive isn’t about collecting AI tools. It’s about knowing which tools create value, which don’t, and more importantly—knowing what should never be delegated to AI in the first place.
Here are four signs your marketing guy might actually be ChatGPT.
1. Every caption sounds like LinkedIn University
- “In today’s fast-paced digital landscape…”
- “Unlock your potential.”
- “Game-changing solutions.”
- “We’re excited to announce…”
You’ve read these captions before. Probably this morning.
The problem isn’t that AI wrote them. The problem is nobody stopped to ask whether they sounded like your brand.
AI is trained on what’s already out there. Without direction, it naturally produces content that’s safe, familiar, and forgettable.
Great brands aren’t safe, forgettable, or sound like everyone else.
2. Every post sounds like a different person wrote it
- Monday, your brand sounds like a corporate bank.
- Wednesday, it’s trying to be Gen Z.
- Friday, it’s quoting Steve Jobs.
A brand voice shouldn’t change every time someone opens a new prompt.
- Consistency builds trust.
- Consistency builds recognition.
- And recognition builds brands.
3. You’re chasing every new AI tool
- This week it’s an AI video generator.
- Next week it’s AI avatars.
- The week after, another subscription promises to create “30 days of content in one click.”
Congratulations.
You now have fifteen AI subscriptions. You still don’t have a marketing strategy.
Technology should simplify your business. Not become another full-time job.
